3rd Annual 5K Summer Stride & Family Stroll to benefit CLC
Camdenton – The third annual 5K Summer Stride & Family Stroll to benefit Children’s Learning Center will be held on June 5.
The starting location will be at the Camdenton High School. The pre-registration fee prior to June 1 is $15 for the 5K, $10 for the one mile stroll and $30 for the one mile family stroll. All participants will receive a T-shirt and we will also have some family fun activities such as face painting, jumpoline and much more!

Children’s Learning Center is a not-for-profit, 501c3, organization that delivers educational and therapy services to infants, toddlers and preschoolers with disabilities or developmental delays in the local area. Preschool aged children of all skill levels participate in quality educational preschool.
The 1931 Troupe, a theatre, arts, music & history community action group based in Lake Ozark is calling for actors to act as living history characters on the Bagnell Dam Strip during
Oma Noma Days May 15 & 16, 2010. We are a volunteer group that seeks actors of all ages and sizes to populate the Bagnell Dam Strip with characters from 1931 - the year the Dam
was opened. Oma Noma Days is a heritage festival celebrating the spirit and history of the individuals who were there at the beginning to make Lake of the Ozarks what it is today.
Be you advanced or beginner we will take you for an hour or two, a day, an evening or whatever amount of time suits you We will costume you according to the dress of the early
1930s. You can saunter down the Bagnell Dam Strip, sit/visit in our reenactment area, portray one of our workers or develop a more complex character from that time period. We can
provide inspiration and direction. Bring your whole family. We'll dress them all.
The Troupe was formed in 2006 and last year added "Hot Summer Nights" to our schedule of events. Actors are also being called for this event to portray 1950s characters similar to
the film "Grease". Again all ages and sizes. We already have a good group of young actors for this event. Join us.

You don't have to attend a meeting to participate in the events. Looking forward to seeing all you talented people.
Indulge your taste buds and delight your senses at the 2nd Annual Lake Taste Challenge! Join the Lake Area Chamber of Commerce as we discover vast culinary treasures among some of the Lake Area’s finest restaurants and eateries. Guests will sample from a number of menu items including mouth watering appetizers, fresh soups, salads and sandwiches, delicious entrees, as well as delectable desserts. Come out to the Inn at Grand Glaize – 5142 Hwy. 54 in Osage Beach between 11:00am and 3:00pm on Sunday, April 11th for this unique lunch experience, great company, family fun, and much more!! As you discover the various foods and restaurant specialties around the Lake, you will also be choosing your favorites. Upon arrival each guest will receive a judging ballot which they will complete and submit towards the end of the event. Awards will be given to the winning foods and restaurants in each category. Don’t forget there will also be activities for the kids too as well as relaxing chair massages offered by Colleen Pierce of Lotus Wellness Center.
Restaurants to date include: J. Bruner's - The Lake's Classic Steakhouse, Pickled Pete's Sports Bar & Restaurant, Harry & David, and Paul's Supermarket. More will be added all the time so check back to see if your favorite is on the list.
Admission is $10 per person / Children 11-5 are $5 / Children 4 and under are Free

The Missouri Council for Exceptional Children (MO-CEC) recently held its annual conference at The Lodge of Four Seasons in Lake Ozark, Missouri. Along with educational sessions and social events, the conference included the Annual Awards Ceremony. Tyler resident, Dr. Nancy Nichols was recipient of the 3rdAnnual Friend in Education Award. This award is presented to an outstanding business individual or group who has demonstrated dedication in the field of Special Education in the State of Missouri. This award will be given to one business individual or group for exemplary contribution and support of students with disabilities.
“Dr. Nichols has been a strong supporter of special education and the professionals who work in the field through her research and publications in the field of education,” said MO-CEC 2010 Awards Chair, Cecelia Coppenbarger. “We are pleased to present the third Friend in Education award to her.”

At the December business luncheon of Newcomers/Longtimers, Brenda Love, Immediate Past President, awarded ten scholarships to local students. The winners were selected through an interview process and granted scholarships based upon need, grades and interviews.
Recipients from the Registered Nursing program at Columbia College were Marcie Bettencourt and Frank Reller - school coordinator is Linda Claycomb. From the Practical Nursing program at Eldon Career Center winners were Randy Robinett and Kathy Neeley - school coordinator is Shelly Wehmeyer. Technical scholarships were given in the Marine Engine Division of the Lake Career and Technical Center to Jimmy Colvard, Peter Dreste, Joe Halcomb, Randy James, James Shortell, and Jayson Vaughn - school instructor is Larry Wittrock. The Scholarship Committee also recognized each school with Certificates.
Judy Barrett led the Scholarship Committee as Chairman. Participating on the committee were Roberta Renicker, Janet Mills, and Mary Gaston.
