Groundbreaking Planned for U.S. 65 Widening in Benton County

The event will start at 10:30 a.m. and be held on right of way near Route 65 in Warsaw, just south of the Route 7 interchange. From the interchange, travel the outer roadway south for approximately a half mile to the ceremony location. The event is open to the public and will be held rain or shine.The $19.3 million project includes widening the highway to four lanes from south of Route 52 to just north of the Osage River in Warsaw. When completed, the new divided highway will have two northbound lanes and two southbound lanes.
Chester Bross ConstructionCO./C.B. Equipment, Inc/. of Hannibal, Mo. is contracted to complete the project. Weather permitting, work will start within the next week and will be completed in the summer 2012. The project is being paid for through voter approved Amendment 3 funding.
This project is part of a larger effort to widen and improve safety on Route 65 through Benton County.
Motorists are encouraged to stay alert and drive safely through construction areas.
